I love the aesthetics! There are a lot of communal areas. The main one has places to lie down (or sit at a table) and listen to relaxing music, and in the front you can watch how two massage parlors compete with eachother for customers. And there's also a couple of balconies. There's a couple of bus stops in the big street very close by, and you can also take boats to go places, because it's right next to the river. Within 1km there's everything you need, and I think it's around 2km to reach Khao San Road. BTS and MRT are reachable at around 3 to 4 km. There's plenty of taxi's and grab options though. The only reason why I give a 9 instead of a 10 is because at the top floor the shower doesn't really output much water and there's a couple of tiny ants making their way through the crevices. This is the first hostel I've been to that doesn't have cockroaches! :)

The staff were really friendly and concise and available at reception 24hrs so you felt safe if you needed anything. Beer, drinks and a small menu available too so you can chill at the hostel and be fed. There is Sebs Bar next door which was good value and quality and multiple streets of food and drinks, including a jazz bar and a beer pong bar heading towards Khaosan (5-10min walk) 3 seperate lounge areas where you can relax, read and sort stuff out. Wasana, the owner, is WONDERFUL and helped organise my whole trip around Thailand as she runs a travel agency. She really puts a solo traveller at ease. Beds were comfy enough and my room was air-conditioned so when we got in at night it was nice and cool. So long as people kept the doors closed we didn't suffer from mosquitoes either.

I had such a fabulous time staying at born free hostel. Looking at it online I thought it was too good to be true; best price in the area, plus great taste. But it was true! And definitely the cleanest Uber cheap hostel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s owned by the sweetest family, and the owner was such a nice dude. Very friendly and energetic with great recommendations. There were two obnoxious people who came in late being loud, and the owners told them off, which I really appreciate because it means they’ll probably leave a bad review because they were brats, but they were quiet after that. I personally don’t love Bangkok but I’ll be returning just to stay here again and check out the wake surfing park the owner recommended. Excited to stay here again!

The reception was 24h which was great for us as we arrived at 7am from Krabi. One of the main reasons I booked this Hostel. We could use the facilities without having checked in (at 2pm). Really nice social areas, including balcony on the top floor. The staff I met were great, very friendly and made us feel at home. Plus the 2 cutest cats Tong and Peanut! Free bicycles to use aswell, although we didn't use them personally. About 5 - 10 minutes walk from the busy Khao San area, but some lovely bars and street food places near the hostel.

The dorm was very comfortable and quiet. The AC was never too cold only cool so it was nice to sleep. The common areas were comfortable and there was enough space for everyone. Bathrooms were clean and they had shower gel dispensers as well as toilet paper. They have lockers but bring your own lock. It was great to have a kitchen, just to warm up some snacks, make some tea/coffee etc! The location is great, very calm but close to the river and several bus stops so you can easily go everywhere using public transport.
